There's a more irksome aspect to this. It also applies to backpack to hand. I've been caught out a couple of times where I thought I'd switched weapons then found, having moved the soldier to position, I couldn't use the weapon because it was still in the backpack and I didn't have enough AP to transfer it to hand
and
use it.Wormerine
Yes please! I cought myself thinking I looted a chest so many times, only to find myself two turns later with suspiciously empty backpack. A better feedback when no AP is available would be greatly welcome.

Not true, the AP needed are irrelevant of what you take and how many, you simply need a single AP to "open the crate"
Unless you have the ready for action perk
Steve Crook
@Eddie Cohanim: Not that I can see. I've opened the crate & can't take items. Even if they're 0AP, IIRC, first item is 'free', then 1AP for everything else. Unless you've 'ready for action'.
Eddie Cohanim
@Steve Crook: maybe im getting mixed up, but i think youre mistaken and the first item isnt "free"
Steve Crook
@Eddie Cohanim: TBH, I'd wondered if I was, but as luck would have it I had a resource mission pop up and the images show what I mean...
First one is after heavy arrived at crate and he's got no AP,
second is at the start of a new turn, and the third is after he's taken the first item. He doesn't have "Ready for action".
Do you think I've got this right, or am I just confused?

Vit Barta
@Steve Crook: I think that you are confused because it is quite confusing. To take any number of items from crate you need 1 AP. There are no 0AP items as far as I know. It just drags items into your inventory even when you do not have AP for it, but the items actually stay in the crate.
And BTW what is TU's? Do you mean APs? I think the thread should be renamed to APs.
Steve Crook
@Vit Barta: TU ahhh, Time Unit, AP==TU. I think that might have been the term used with the original XCom or Jagged Alliance or both. Both left strong impressions I've never recovered from :0

I had the same problem several times and I had to search several crates again just to find, that stuff I moved to backpack remained in the crate.
William Hincks
Yeah... this is annoying as heck as you can easily miss it if you are not paying attention. Then you move to the next crate and wonder where your stuff is!
